12 ounces unbleached flour
1 stick butter
4 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
pinch salt
3 ounces currants optional
buttermilk to make a soft dough
Rub butter into flour. Add dry ingredients and enough buttermilk to make a soft dough. Knead till smooth, roll and cut.
Bake 15-20 minutes in hot oven.
